Does Acupuncture Help with Fertility? You Bet your Fanny it Does!
I'm sure if you are reading this post then that means somewhere you have heard that acupuncture works for optimizing fertility. It's true.
Acupuncture is wonderful for re-balancing the body, getting it ready to conceive, hold a fetus and deliver a beautiful baby.
This practice of healing has been around for thousands of years to prove it. Recently Western medicine has jumped on board with this and has been implementing research to understand the core of how acupuncture helps women conceive. More and more Acupuncturists are seeing fertility patients referred to us by their medical doctors. So how does this work?

Oriental Medicine works on its own theory and diagnoses system. Therefore, we do not view you as broken or unable to conceive when you come into our office. Although it is helpful for you to have had tests done and visit with your OBGYN, it is not necessary for us to have this information before seeing you as a patient.
Acupuncture optimizes fertility by increasing blood flow to the reproductive system, which is extremely important (number one!).
Acupuncture also regulates hormonal health and brings the body back into balance by treating many other underlying reproductive health concerns. Some of the other common reproductive issues that may directly affect fertility are: PMS, endometriosis, PCOS, amenorrhea, decreased ovarian reserve, elevated FSH, irregular menses, ovarian cysts, male factor, uterine fibroids, and more. The great news is that Acupuncture is effective at regulating all of these conditions.

We work to treat the root cause of fertility problems to improve overall reproductive health, and increasing conception success rates.
We usually recommend that individuals start receiving acupuncture at least 3 months prior to the start of trying to conceive either spontaneously or with the help of assisted reproductive technology (ART). Acupuncture and Integrative therapies are most effective if the couple comes in together for the initial appointment so that we can do a thorough evaluation of both individuals' health.
During fertility treatments, you can expect to receive a wide range of natural therapies to prepare your body to conceive. These may include Acupuncture, herbal medicine, moxibustion therapy, nutritional guidance, lifestyle recommendations, cupping therapy, and more. We use a wide range of ancient and traditional skills to form a complete fertility program that is customized for each unique individual and couple.
Following the initial appointment, we will see you once a week during the course of your fertility journey. Once our patients conceive, if they are able to do so, we continue acupuncture throughout the first trimester to help prevent miscarriage and ensure a healthy pregnancy. Assuming that there are no health concerns and the first trimester is completed, then we will continue acupuncture as needed to help aid and alleviate pregnancy symptoms for the remaining months.

If you are in your fertility journey, add Acupuncture as a tool in your toolbox to improve your reproductive health, bring your body back into balance and enhance your overall well-being.
